RESPONSIBLE TRAINING'S TABC COURSE
A seller-server training program helps new and current alcohol servers keep up to date on laws and regulations that govern the sale of alcohol in the State of Texas. While it is not an official requirement to serve alcohol in Texas, most employers will require you to complete a TABC course before you are allowed to work.
This TABC Seller-Server Training Course is modeled after the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code and has been approved by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. It is periodically updated to stay current with the Beverage Code and to improve quality. Our course is available in English and Spanish.

A TABC CERTIFICATE- A VALUABLE SIGN OF ACCOMPLISHMENT
Anyone who works in a place that serves alcohol, such as a restaurant, bar, food truck, or convenience store, should hold a TABC Certificate to show they understand the laws regarding alcohol sales. If you would like to know alcohol laws so that you can better protect yourself against legal repercussions, this training will be valuable for your job.

HOW IS A TABC CERTIFICATE USED?
Holding a TABC Certificate shows employers that you have passed the minimum requirement of understanding the laws governing the sale of alcohol. Employers can check your certificate status through our on-line system, or through TABC's website
When applying for jobs, you may call yourself a "Responsible Training TABC Certificate Recipient". You can refer to your "Responsible Training TABC Certificate" on your resume.
You may not say or imply that you are "certified," "certificated," "licensed," "registered" or "accredited"; these terms indicate a different type of program than seller-server training.

FOR HOW LONG IS THE CERTIFICATE VALID?
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has set the validity of a TABC certificate at 2 years. It will be printed on your certificate and may be checked by using our online verification program.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Upon successful completion of this training program, you will understand:
- The definition of intoxication and the dangers of alcohol poisoning
- How to spot signs of intoxication and the laws regarding the sale of alcohol to intoxicated persons.
- How to spot minors and the penalties for providing/selling alcohol to a minor.
- When to cut off service and how to intervene when an intoxicated person or minor is involved.
- The way that alcohol affects the body.
- What to look for when checking identification and how to spot a fake.
- The laws governing the sale of alcohol for private clubs and Public Entertainment Facilities (PEFs)
