RESPONSIBLE TRAINING'S FOOD HANDLER COURSE

A food handler program helps new and current food handlers keep up to date on laws and regulations for the county and state where they work. Most states require food handlers to take a food handler course. Our course is available in English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.

This Food Handler course has been developed to meet the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) E2659 standard practice for certificate programs requirements by training experts with the guidance of health department food safety officials, food management professionals and food handlers like you. It is periodically updated to stay current with food codes and to improve quality; learn about changes here.

A FOOD HANDLER CERTIFICATE- A VALUABLE SIGN OF ACCOMPLISHMENT

Anyone who works in a place that serves food to the public, such as a restaurant, bar, food truck, or hospital, should hold a Food Handler Certificate to show they understand food safety. If you come into contact with food during preparation, cooking, serving, or cleaning, this training will be valuable for your job.

HOW IS A FOOD HANDLER CERTIFICATE USED?

Holding a Food Handler Certificate shows employers that you have passed the minimum requirement of understanding food safety. Employers can check your certificate status through our on-line system.

When applying for jobs, you may call yourself a "Responsible Training Food Handler Certificate Recipient". You can refer to your "Responsible Training Food Handler Certificate" on your resume.

You may not say or imply that you are "certified," "certificated," "licensed," "registered" or "accredited"; these terms indicate a different type of program than food handler training.

FOR HOW LONG IS THE CERTIFICATE VALID?

The health board or other regulatory organization determines how long your certificate will be valid, usually two years but in some places it may be one or three. It will be printed on your certificate and may be checked by using our online verification program.
